rewind
During my freshman year at SVA, our final project for the Intro to Imaging class was to create an original concept for an animated feature, live-action film, or video game, along with supporting concept art and designs. This led to my creation of the animated feature idea of 'Rewind'; a project inspired by moments of existential reflection. It explores the deep, isolating emptiness that one can feel when the thought of being insignificant strikes unexpectedly. These feelings, which have personally overwhelmed me at times, inspired the core theme of 'Rewind'—delving into the fragility of existence and the search for meaning.
synopsis
Ki, a young woman burdened by a lifetime of struggles and self isolation, constantly grapples with an unsettling question: why do we exist, and what if there's no reason at all? When an extraordinary opportunity arises, allowing her to watch her entire life from birth to the present, Ki faces a profound choice. Will this journey reveal the answer she's been searching for, or leave her with even more questions?

logo
When creating this logo I wanted to emphasize the title of the project, and also incorporate an element of the film. After a few rounds of sketches, I settled on using a double arrow rewind metaphor within the letter "e" to represent the concept of revisiting the past. I also added the character "Bulby" as the dot on the letter "i" as a little easter egg!

concept art
Ki was based on a quick sketch that I had done in my journal of my little cousin :)
Below you can see the development process on how I brought her to life!
